Spring Break Day 1

So we decided to take a family vacation this year during Spring Break.
And I have to say, there is absolutely no one, no where, no ANYTHING I would have rather spent that week doing, than hanging out in the snow with my fabulous boys.

Our Destination: Keystone, Colorado!
Out Mission: As much fun for the kiddos (and us) as possible!

Monday morning we all headed to the airport early...I mean EARLY...as in, we got up at 2AM!

My boys were all bright eyed and bushy tailed - super excited for the trip!

Once we landed and shuttled to our car rental the boys were in need of a snack...or...er...munchies ;) kidding of course - but come on, it is Colorado ha!

We made it to our condo in Keystone and immediately started feeling the altitude sickness kicking in.  Keystone is 12,600+ FEET in elevation!  Yes, that's more than TWO MILES!  But we didn't let it stop us...we were too excited (and quite out of breath as it were) to let it fade us, so we headed to the slopes!

Our first order of business was lunch, slopeside.  This place is absolutely amazing...it is SO warm and sunny down at the base of the mountain we didn't even need our jackets...

The boys gobbled up their lunch and then we were off to the gondola.

Now everyone told me that altitude sickness is for real, and you can buy stuff at CVS to counteract the symptoms, but I thought we would be fine!  After all, it usually only lasts a day (and only did in this case for us which was nice ;) ).  Anywho, here we are heading up the mountain in one of the main gondolas - it was a TWENTY MINUTE commute ha!  We didn't think we were ever going to get to the top of the mountain!  We kept going and going and our ears kept popping and popping!

Finally when we got to the top we headed for Keystone's Kidtopia, which was P.H.E.N.O.M.E.N.A.L.
It has everything a kid would ever need.
A snow fort.
A tubing hill.
Snowed in tunnels.
and POWDER...lot's of powder...perfect for romping.

Will made his very first snow angel...

While little Johnny B surrendered to his carb intake from lunch...

Will also made his first snowman...
And as any good kid would do, threw snowballs at it, from nearly point blank range.

Let's just say we were absolutely wiped out from all the elevation nonsense - so headed to dinner at The Dam Brewery where we indulged in fabulous food (and drink) :) before heading back to the condo for some ice cream.

The first day was in the books!  We had a blast!  The kids saw SNOW!!!!
And the best was yet to come :)
