Thanksgiving 2013 - A LOT to be thankful for....

Soooooooooooooo....where do I start?
Thanksgiving 2013 was supposed to be magnificent -- my parents are in town, it was going to be fabulous...then we lost power Wednesday night....yes....The Woodlands was without power for about three hours which we thought was thoroughly annoying so we headed to Chick Fil-A for some dinner.

When we got back to the house we lit some candles and waited for the power to come back on...once it did...we blew the candles out...and Will...blew a tad too hard.

One second we were all giggling about how happy we were that the power came back on...the next instant we heard Will screaming after blowing out a candle and it sparking back INTO HIS EYE.

And I have never heard a kid scream like this before...and never want to hear it again...
Billy and I threw him under the kitchen faucet, flushing his eye, then raced to the ER as fast as we could.  Once they numbed his eye, they flushed it thoroughly and swabbed away soot that was literally burned into his eyeball.  Then came the big test - the dye.

They dropped some dye into his eye and then using an infrared light, were able to determine the extent of the corneal burn.  Where you see GREEN below, directly on his pupil and then downward is where his eye was burned.  After I had what may have been a nervous breakdown in the ER, we headed home with some prescription meds and a very tired boy.

To cut to the chase - we followed up with Children's Memorial Hermann in the medical center Friday and Will is A-OK!  Looks like all of my praying (and crying) paid off :)

Thanksgiving day was kind of laid back...Will and John watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving at least 345 times (yes - Will was told to wear sunglasses all day by the docs)...

Then it was time for some family photos...aren't these guys cute?

I can't believe I took my brace off for this...I will NOT do that again...

The Treys....

The Browns...

And then once we were all good and full...we headed out for the obligatory post Thanksgiving feast walk around the neighborhood...or in Will's case...scooter ride...which resulted in this...he spun out in some muddy puddle and face planted.

Thank GOD he was wearing a helmet and his sunglasses because he would have been in much worse shape!  He came home with a goose egg on his forehead and a pretty nasty cut above his lip.

It was a pretty rough rest of the day...but by bed time he was back to his old self....

So Thanksgiving 2013 is in the books - and we are super thankful that Will's eye is ok and he is recovering (slowly) from his scrapes and bruises!!!!

Here's hoping Thanksgiving 2014 is SAFER!

I can't believe I'm actually getting around to posting this on time!  Here is the last week in Instagram Photos...enjoy!

Will being picked up by his friend Gage following there win and advancement to the finals...

 Will's night stand ... creepy!

 Will casting a line...

My boys...fishing...here's to lazy Sundays!

My ecard from Billy - he just gets me :)

Will saying grace before his Thanksgiving feast at school...

Me during my first PT session!

My harassment of Santa Claus - begging for a new shoulder for Christmas...

Johnny Squanto - he is utterly pinchable!

I go stocking stuffer shopping with John and my parents for ONE hour...I come home and Billy and Will have built a fort in our dining room :)

Noteworthy Napkins

Last week was Billy's week for napkin creating...Will's request - well - it varied day by day...no real theme: here we have a coyote, a hyena, a wolf, Fox (great story books btw), and a bobcat - with red eyes as well requested...

I guess I get the week off since he is out of school!

Will's Thanksgiving Feast

Friday was Will's Thanksgiving luncheon and I juuuuust so happened to make it!

Here is my darling's little placemat he designed for the big event...

And here are some cute giveaways one of the moms made...adorbs!

Before lunch - the kiddos stopped for a moment to say grace...

And then the festivities commenced...there was food...crafts...and...

Some scrapbooking for Will's teacher who was actually on leave - she got married this weekend!
I LOOOOVE Will's responses to the questions:
What makes you love someone? "They're kind" (AND YES THAT IS A CURSIVE 'K'! - we are getting ready to REALLY write!)
Where is a good honeymoon destination? "Michigan" Buahahaha!

Then the kids headed out to PE so it was time for me to snoop (because that is what I do) around the classroom...here is Will's turkey (red feathery Angry Bird Luke Skywalker) with some more from the class -- such a cute idea!

And here is an awesome notion - superhero SWAG sentence structuring...the kiddos are starting to write sentences and stories so this is an awesome way to remind them about some elementary grammar matters...

Gobble Gobble....it was a great day!

Rebuild me...you have the technology!

So I'm two weeks post op - I've come a long way baby!
I swear I will have the bionic arm with these newly installed FIVE anchors!

Little League World Series Championship Game

Saturday was the ORWALL Little League World Series Championship game featuring the Toronto Blue Jays vs the Baltimore Orioles.  Both teams battled hard, but in the end, the Orioles got the best of us :(  But that's ok, because we are already looking forward to Spring ball - which starts in JANUARY!!!!

Will played his usual 2nd base (seriously - he is so cute)...

And was baseball ready for any balls that might come his way...

At the plate, he tried his hardest, hitting his first ball all the way to the outfield!

After the game ended, each team recognized each and every player, calling out their number, name, and handing them trophies...

We snapped a few team photos...

And one with his baseball bestie Gage...

And then we headed off to Fuddruckers for some yummy burgers...at the request of our tiny 2nd baseman...to celebrate an awesome season.

Great season Will!

Grandparents Day

Two Friday's ago, Will's school celebrated Grandparent's Day.
Will was lucky enough to have both Nana Julie and Nana Rosie in town to attend.
Sadly Papa Max had to work, and even sadder, Papa Dave had to stay home and take care of me post surgery day #1 (pooooor Papa Dave ;) )

This year Will had to come up with interview questions for both sets of grandparents and design his acorns in such a way that they represented the answers...He did a GREAT job, special thanks to Billy for helping to get them all completed!

Here's to Grandparents....we couldn't survive without you!!

Noteworthy Napkins

This last week was my napkin week...I was quite nervous going into it as things are quite awkward being down to using only one arm so I went with Angry Birds Star Wars characters---I thought these would be on the easier side of things...so here we have the Death Star, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and Luke Skywalker...Will absolutely loved them!
