Billy and Will told me I could do anything I wanted for Mother's Day....anything....so I did!
We all went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science --- it was a blast!
We started the morning out at the Brown Entomology exhibit which Will just loved.
(translation - lots of bugs, huge bugs, bugs as big as cats in some cases)
We saw scorpions as big as hair brushes, tarantulas as big as Will's head and a millipede that was the size of a banana (I'm not exaggerating on the size any of these!)
Oh yes, and a ginormous Katydid!
Here I am, trying to get Will to pose by the giant Dung Beetle (haha!) but he is way too concerned with the oversized tarantula hanging above!
Next we were off to the Cockrell Butterfuly Exhibit - basically, a three story rainforest in the middle of Texas - it was so amazing! There were so many different types of butterflies and so many different colors, shapes and sizes!
Will was a little skeptical at first (as we were basically dodging them left and right to get through)
But he soon warmed up to them....ALL of them!
Finally, the show stopper (drumroll please)....the Paleontology exhibit!
This is exactly how I wanted my Mother's Day to go ... I wanted to see the excitement in my little man's eyes as we entered the hall - and boy was I surprised! I think people around us were too as he pointed, wildly shouting out the names: T-Rex, Coelophysis, Quetzalecoatlus and Maiasaura. He didn't do too shabby, he got three out of four correct. Although he guessed the small dinosaur next to the T-Rex below was a Maiasaura (a member of the 'duck billed' dinosaur family) it was actually an Edmontonia (also a 'duck billed' dinosaur of course haha!).
Lastly, we headed downstairs for some 'hands on' activities - the most exciting of which was playing Weather Man! I think Will has a face for TV, what do you think?
This was the best Mother's Day EVER - I just love seeing my little man so happy!
