Johnny B is THREE!

Our little John turned three on January 5th!

We had a nice quiet family party on his big day and then invited some of our closest friends over for a very serious, very intense, very awesome He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Party!

Billy and I prepared all the He-Man party details to ensure John had an awesome venue.

Billy was in charge of turning our study into Castle Greyskull...he did an AWESOME job!!!

The boys and guests loved it!! Yes, that is a He-Man pillow (thanks Grant & Sunshine & Lola!)

I was in charge of the cake...and as usual, I shamelessly purchased a cake ten times too big to ensure we would have plenty of leftovers...

John thought this was the coolest cake ever!

I also went way overboard in the balloons department (again)...they were all over the house!

And of course, you can't have a He-Man party without a He-Man banner :)

And He-Man party hats (it is AMAZING what you can find on Amazon these days)

And for some final details: Major props go out to Nana Rosie who STILL HAD Billy's original Castle Greyskull from the 80s!!!

The day of the party - John was super excited!

We all donned our party shirts.... Guess who is who!

Seriously - how cool is Battlecat?

Did you guess correctly? Here is the fam ready to party!

And Nana Rosie and Papa Max...

I then let John hold his custom made (by me) He-Man sword for a photo op...

And then he did what I would have liked to have done - sampled his cake :)

"I have the power!"
(darnit - I should have had my video camera ready!)

When the guests arrived we dined on yummy Chick Fil A breakfast sandwiches...

And check out these vintage He-Man comic books (again, thanks to Rosie keeping EVERYTHING Billy ever owned!)

Here's the Birthday Boy chowing down...

Next a bunch of us adults got busy putting together a massive He-Man puzzle Rosie dug out of her storage shed...John was very curious to see all the characters put together piece by piece...

And then it was time for the cake!

And ice cream :) Yes, John had both vanilla and chocolate - he is SOOO my kid.

My two peanuts...adorable!

After the kids played for a few to burn their sugar highs - we opened presents - and this dude got LOTS of them...we actually had to put some "away" for "later" :)

I give you....Battlecat! This guy JUST might be John's favorite He-Man character.

And if you know John, no party would be complete without some sort of costume gift.  This year he got two :) He-Man and...

The Incredible Hulk.  Hulk is also HIIIIIGH on his list of favorites these days.

Then came the show stoppers ...

A box FULL of He-Man good guys....

And another full of He-Man bad guys....all freebies courtesy of Nana Rosie!

The boys then got busy busy busy playing with their vintage and probably lead laden toys lol!

Last but certainly not least - we brought out the He-Man pinata.
We are smart - so we purchased one that simply has pull ribbons - knowing that if we introduced a bat or stick into the party John would definitely send someone to the ER!

Once the pinata opened up the kids frantically scrambled to pick up their goodies :)
Seriously - it was FRANTIC.
I have video footage and it is absolutely hysterical!

After the party winded down and some folks departed - a few hung back with us to finish that darn puzzle...and the kiddos watched a few glorious episodes of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

We put together our party favors...

And played and played and played until we couldn't play any more!

John finally collapsed for a nap (with me of course) and when we woke up - we got after it again...it is amazing how awesome these old toys are...

All in all it was a thrilling party and the kiddos all had super amounts of fun!

And we even got a new household decoration out of it - - - -

An enormous, vintage, super fantastic He-Man puzzle :)

That we are, of course, mounting, and hanging in John's room :)

Because we are AWESOME parents :)

And if you've made it this far....Here is a great video of our two birthday sing songs - notice in the first how terrified Will is of candles (still) and how John is taking this way to seriously.
Also, you will get a glimpse of our little guy's humor as he declares in the first he wants to "eat more tea" an in the second "until he turns into a juice".  Watch an listen closely...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHNNY B!!!
