Geology Rocks! Will's 8th Birthday Party!

Two weeks ago we celebrated Will's 8th birthday.
We asked Will if he wanted to have a big party and invite all his friends from school/baseball.
But he only wanted his bestie Cade to come over for a little geology workshop.  Easy!

Billy made the party sign (and did an amazing job!)  Seriously - I find I am quite jealous of his artistic abilities lately...

I was in charge of setup the morning of.  Will and John and Billy spent the morning at Will's batting lesson while I feverishly ran multiple errands to get the park set up.  This is my face of relief when I realized I was done!

We were really excited to watch the kiddos go crazy with their geology workshop gear...a crystal mining kit!

I also put together some pretty cute (and simple - these are boys after all) gift boxes...

A rock/gem/mineral dig kit and ... pop rocks!

And lastly, I set out the cupcakes - complete with chocolate rocks from Michigan...perfect!

When the birthday boy showed up we took time for a few family photos...we just can't believe how big he has gotten...

Once Cade and Easton showed up - the gang started going crazy at the park...

Shortly after, it was time to chow down on pizza and cheetos - yum!

Following lunch we got cleaned up just to get dirty again haha!  Let the excavating commence!

I've never seen two four year olds and two 2nd grade boys sit still for so long in MY LIFE.
They were so focused, so excited, so just into the whole thing!  Seriously - they probably sat there for a good solid hour diligently working.  I was worried choosing this type of activity might not be "cool enough".  But as it turns out, they all loved it!

When they were finally all done - this is all that remained...a giant mess!

And each kiddo got to take home their very own box of minerals...

Then we moved on to dessert and the birthday cupcake celebration...

Will, still not quite over the devastating flame in the eye incident from a few years ago, was still pretty pensive about the blazing #8 in front of him...but he made a wish and blew it out.

Then, as Will does, just annihilated his cupcake (he takes after me - clearly)...

Next it was time for gifts.

He got just about everything you can imagine related to the wonderful science of geology...more dig kits, experiment kits, geodes, books, and more!

He also got some baseball gear and a Deadpool mask - ha!

Even Johnny got a gift :)

Which proved to be quite entertaining for the two littlest dudes... :)

Next we decided to let them open up their give-aways...

They loved their first dig activity so much, they decided to dig right in to their party favors!!!  (and Pop Rocks -   Easton haha!)

Will even cracked open a geode - and as Will would, he selflessly gave one to Cade to break, and one to John to break.

He is the sweetest, nicest, most considerate 8 year old in the universe.

And he's ours.

Happy Birthday Will - we love you.

xoxoxo
