Spring Break 2015 was supposed to send us back to the mountains of Colorado, but, well, we simply never got around to making the arrangements and before we knew it, spring break was upon us and we had no plans! So we made some! We live reasonably close to several hot spots in Texas and chose San Antonio as our destination. We had a weeks worth of fun festivities planned to include Sea World, Natural Bridge Caverns, Safari Farm, and a few nights at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort that is just outside the Austin/San Antonio area and has awesome activities for kids daily and nightly to include campfires and smores :) YUM!
Well, all those plans got washed away (pun intended) when a monsoon descended upon the southwestern US and pretty much cancelled all those plans, shortened our vacation to two days instead of five, but also saved us thousands of dollars!!!! SCORE!
With torrential weather headed our way, we decided to go for broke, and try to at least do a few things before returning home, so first, we hit up the Natural Bridge Caverns.
They were awesome!
I have to say, I never knew Texas had such amazing features!
Here we are, getting ready to go nearly TWO HUNDRED feet below the surface of the earth!
We kept descending....
And descending...
And descending until we were at the bottom.
The stalagmites, stalactites, and bats (yes we saw a bat) were awesome!
After a fabulous dinner we hit the hay at the hotel and prepared for the next day...
Sea World!
The kids had an absolute blast, we hit all the venues, all the shows, penguins, dolphins, aquariums, killer whales, beluga whales, you name it!
Here are my boys getting ready for Shamu :)
After all that excitement, someone simply couldn't hang on any longer, so he took a power nap on a very comfortable shoulder while we hiked across the park to check out the penguin exhibit....
And somehow, some way, we made it through those two days without getting rained on until, literally, this picture, as we exited the park and headed for home.
We had a great time!
Spring Break 2015 - easy peasy and in the books!
